Hey all - attached is a mail from the NUS skate club. we just received this from them, on 22nd December, and as such is damn last min. nonetheless, do take a look, and if ur interested to join, do speak to our President or VP (Bryan James/Jianming). there's still a chance to join it, we're currently asking them to perhaps extend the deadline for us due to the communication breakdown.

Date: 16 Jan 2010
Time: 9am-5pm
Venue: NUS campus, Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC) Multi-purpose Courts 14 and 15
Test your skills and compete against other skaters by participating in Skate Challenge 2010 and stand to win attractive prizes!
Skate Challenge 2010 has two main events: Dragon Challenge and Captain Ball on Skates. There are also two carnival stalls which will be running concurrently with the main events and are open to anyone interested at any time: Trick Ladder andOne-Cone Endurance. The brief description of each event is as follows:
Dragon Challenge
There are 4 categories in this race and each school is only allowed to send in 1 team per category:
- 4-men Male Dragon
- 4-men Female Dragon
- 8-men Male Dragon
- 8-men Female Dragon
- 8-men Mixed Dragon (gender alternate line-up for this category)
The race will be held in a time trail format and the team with the fastest time will be the winner of the category. Each race will require skaters to complete 5 laps around the track, with all members of the team (except the dragon head) having at least one hand holding on to the HIPS of the person in front. Letting go of both hands during the race will result in disqualification.
The registration fee for the 4-men Dragon is $20 per team and the 8-men Dragon is $40 per team.
Captain Ball on Skates
Each school is allowed to send in only 1 team for this game and each team will consist of 4 players, 1 captain and 2 reserves. During the game, the 4 players must always consist of 2 females and 2 males while the captain can be a male or female.
Each game will last for 15 minutes: 7 minutes of play, 1 minute break and the last 7 minutes of play.
The registration fee is $35 per team.
Trick Ladder
A list of slalom moves is pre-defined in order of difficulty and competitors take turn to execute the moves precisely as described. A penalty is awarded if one or more cones is knocked down during the execution of a move and one is eliminated when the 3rd penalty is awarded. The last competitor left un-eliminated wins. A challenge board stating the current leader will be displayd and anyone is free to challenge his/her result. At the end of the day, the winner will get a prize!
The fee for every try is $2.
One-Cone Endurance
Test your one-cone edurance with this game! Only One-Cone Crazy or Crazy Sun is allowed in this game and the competitor who clocks the longest time before missing or knocking down the cone at the end of the day, wins!
The fee for every try is $2.
Please register your teams in the registration form attached to this email and return it to us via email by 23 December 2009. Remember to indicate your t-shirt sizesin the form because all participants will be given a FREE event shirt! Also, please indicate your helmet size because it is mandatory to wear protective gears during the event for your safety. However, we will not be providing wrist, elbow and knee guards so please remember to bring your own set.
Team leaders are to collect the registration fees and hand them to us on the day of the event itself. All competitors are also reminded to complete and bring yourindemnity form, which is attached to this email, on the day itself for collection.
Lastly, the champion school will be awarded a challenge trophy and wil be allowed to keep it for a year, before handing it back to us next year. There will also be a lucky draw which comes with many attractive prizes, including electonic goods!
